We’re excited to support the Buzzards Bay Coalition as an official corporate member!
The Buzzards Bay Coalition is a membership-supported nonprofit organization dedicated to the restoration, protection, and sustainable use and enjoyment of our Bay and its watershed. Since we have a shared passion for nature and the outdoors, we decided to join their efforts and help protect our beautiful coastal community.
Here is what’s at the heart of the Buzzards Bay Coalition’s work:
Science & Advocacy: Thanks to “Baywatchers” the folks at the Buzzards Bay Coalition have been collecting data for over 25 years. The Baywatchers program is the largest, longest running, all-volunteer coastal monitoring initiative. They collect samples from over 75 Buzzards Bay harbors, coves, and rivers which provide the necessary data for the coalition’s mission to protect clean water.
Watershed Protection: A watershed is an area of land that channels rainwater and snow to rivers, creeks, and streams that all flow into a single body of water, such as a bay, lake or ocean. The Buzzards Bay Coalition works to conserve forests, fields, streams, and wetlands that preserve the health of local waterways.
Community Engagement: Get your children into the outdoor classroom! The Coalition has fun and affordable summer camps, school programs, and outdoor exploration programs. They also create opportunities for us to explore and get outside! Discover Buzzards Bay hiking, paddling, biking, fishing and more!! There are so many great places to explore – from Little Compton to Martha’s Vineyard to Falmouth to Freetown and all the towns in between!
