Honoring Veterans with Our Heroes’ Tree

Honoring Veterans with Our Heroes’ Tree

We are proud to salute our local veterans with Our Heroes’ Tree!  Hosted by the East Fairhaven Elementary School, Our Heroes’ Tree is a national initiative that honors the service and sacrifice of our nation’s military and their families.

Members of the community craft individual “hero ornaments” featuring their favorite military hero and hang them on a tree. We were excited to provide art and craft supplies for the East Fairhaven School students to craft ornaments during art class.  Our Heroes’ Tree is placed in the school foyer as a welcome to veterans attending the school’s annual Veteran’s Day Assembly.

Care Free Homes is especially thankful for their own hero, Nathan Pickup.  Nate, Vice-President of Care Free Homes,  graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He was commissioned as an officer and served in the United States Army where he deployed to both Bosnia and Afghanistan.  Thank you for your service Nate!

Our Heroes’ Tree was co-founded in 2005 by Marlene Lee and Care Free Homes Marketing Manager, Stephanie Pickup.  The program has been celebrated in civilian and military communities around the world.  To learn more about Our Heroes’ Tree, visit their Facebook page or check out their Pinterest Boards for patriotic recipes, ornament ideas, and more!
