The Nonquitt House, our latest new construction home in South Dartmouth, MA, is finally complete and gorgeous!
After the original home, formerly known as the Louisa May Alcott house, was destroyed by a fire, the homeowner was forced to completely tear down and rebuild. An article featuring historical facts about the home describes the event. The beautiful new construction home was designed and built with classic, cedar shingles on the outside and simple summer cottage style on the inside.
Freshly painted, white, tongue and groove bead board is echoed throughout the home on ceilings, wainscot, and the breakfast bar. (Fun fact: In contrast to sheets of bead board, authentic tongue and groove bead board features 6″ strips individually fitted together.) A gas fireplace will provide warmth in the winter and take the chill out of an autumn or spring evening.
The kitchen’s shaker style cabinets, granite counters, and subway tile back splash are open to a cozy dining area. The open concept design allows guests in the living room, dining area, kitchen, and sunroom to have individual space without being separated from one other.
Oak hard wood floors stained in deep mahogany were installed throughout the home and contrast beautifully with the white trim, bead board and exposed beam ceilings. The stairway features white painted spindles with mahogany hand rails and caps.
This home is the perfect summer getaway. A citrus colored sunroom combined with the wrap around mahogany porch (the rails are cedar) provide an abundance of natural light and outdoor space for relaxation and entertaining.
