So you need a new roof. How do you start? Where do you begin? We’ve boiled it down to three things to keep in mind during your process.

    1) Choose a roofing material with strong warranties and features that will suit your lifestyle.  A lifetime limited transferable warranty is an indicator of a trustworthy company that stands by their products.  Select a top quality shingle manufacturer that provides a wind-resistance warranty, especially important to those of us living in the path of Nor’easters and seasonal storms.  Also, choosing a product with a stain warranty is a good idea to ensure your roof looks beautiful for years to come.

    2) Choose a style and color that complements your home.  For example, Victorian Style homes look best with slate style shingles in bold colors such as reds, greens, and color blends.  Colonials look smart with darker colored, shingles with a slate effect. Shingles with a Wood-shake appearance in neutral color tones are great for Cape Cod style homes.

     3) The most important step in getting a new roof is to fully research your roofing contractors.  You want to be sure your contractor is fully licensed, insured, and has a proven track record with homeowners and the community.   Roofing is a job for professionals – if you hire uninsured contractors and a worker is injured, you could be liable for medical costs. If you are a   Massachusetts homeowner you must hire a licensed contractor to be eligible for the state’s Guaranty Fund, a fund created for consumers who have an unpaid final judgment against a contractor.

We’ve been family owned and operated for over 35 years and are proud to offer quality roofing products from GAF, CertainTeed and more.   Our professionalism is reflected in our CertainTeed Shinglemaster credentials and GAF Master Elite Contractor status – a status awarded to only 3% of roofers in the country. If your roof is 18+ years old or showing any signs of aging such as leaking, lifting or curling shingles – it may be time for you to consider getting an estimate to replace.   When the time comes,  contact us and make your house a Care Free home!
