Care Free Homes is a United Way of Greater New Bedford Hunger Heroes sponsor!
In conjunction with individual donations and food drives from local businesses, hundreds of people volunteer their time to organize and assemble Thanksgiving food baskets for 1,000 SouthCoast families. Traditional Thanksgiving fixings such as stuffing, cranberry sauce, potatoes, gravy, vegetables, and dessert mixes are all packed into an aluminum baking tin that can be used to bake the recipient’s holiday meal. Each family also receives a fresh turkey! A highly anticipated community event, our family has been an enthusiastic supporter of Hunger Heroes since its official debut in 2015.
In addition to being an event sponsor, we are also hosting our Care Free Potatoes & Gravy Train food drive. Due to an annual shortage of these two food items during Hunger Heroes (United Way typically has to purchase extra items the day of the event) – we’re inviting our neighbors to donate canned gravy, gravy mix, instant mashed potatoes, or canned potatoes. For every item brought to our office – the donor will be entered into a random drawing to WIN a $25 VISA gift card plus a Black Tie Cookie bouquet! Four winners will be selected. Donations may be dropped off at our office from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The last day to donate will be Friday, November 16, 2018. Don’t have the time to drop off food? Consider making a $5, $10 or more donation directly to United Way of Greater New Bedford! These funds will be used to help families here in the SouthCoast.
